...at least that's what I call it. It's become a phenomenon that I quite admire. Because up to the Turning Point, you've been coming to class and working hard but continuing to choose weights within your comfort zone. Up to the Turning Point, you talk about eating healthy and you join in a challenge but can't quite resist that birthday cake (challenges don't apply to birthdays, right?) or bottle of wine (wine is ok, right?) or that one small cookie (it was a small one so it doesn't count, right?).
And during this time, up to the Turning Point, we're in your ear: "You can do it." "Come on, do 5 more before you rest." "Just try it. Two weeks of no cheats or treats. You can do anything for two weeks!" And, we are in your ear because we see the potential in you LONG before you do. We believe in you LONG before you do. We know what you're capable of LONG before you do. But you haven't reached the Turning Point yet... so our words seem to disappear inside your own.
Until the Turning Point. That one moment when you finally recognize how amazingly strong you are and decide, for yourself, that you CAN do way more than you think. It's the moment when you decide, for yourself, to do the heavier weight no matter how long it takes you. It's the moment when you embark on a nutrition challenge that has only one participant: YOU. It's the moment when you set goals for yourself and create a plan to achieve them. It's the moment when you finally hear us and believe us.
I witnessed a Turning Point tonight and it is these moments that motivate me as a Coach. I strive to help as many people as possible reach the Turning Point. So, ask yourself if you've had a Turning Point yet. If you haven't, why not? Challenge yourself next week... put yourself outside your comfort zone. Choose a heavier weight, do your push ups on your toes, do your pull-ups without a band, jump on a higher box, give it 30 days with no cheats or treats...I challenge you to see if you can reach your Turning Point this week.

My turning point was when I finally was able to show up to a WOD with confidence and some self esteem. I no longer blend in with the crowd so much or want to stand in the back. I will grunt, yell and push myself to limits I never knew I had.
I have many more turning points to come and I am excited about them!

My turning point was being told by my doctors. I would be never ever be able to run because of my tendonitis to my knee. I was truly amazed when I was able to run 200m with no trouble. No lingering effects. Thanks to all of the great coaches to keep inspiring me to push through.
