Kettlebells build functional strength. This is the strength you use every day to perform normal tasks, such as picking up bags of groceries to put into the trunk of your car.
Using kettlebells takes PRACTICE. Just like practicing the piano - you try to improve your performance by refining your technique, learning when to work hard and when to relax - you don't just "go through the motions." Kettlebells provide this great balance between tension and relaxation: tension is strength and relaxation is speed.
Practicing with kettlebells activates multiple muscle groups in unison and works your body through ranges of motion most people would not normally encounter in a gym.
Kettlebells are an effective tool for strengthening connective tissue, especially in the back.
